Our Commitment
The National Privacy Principles (NPPs) scheme
as set out in the Privacy Amendment (Private
Sector) Act 2000 (Privacy Act) became operational
on 21st December 2001 and, in handling your personal
information, Trash & Treasure Australia Pty.
Ltd. (the Company) is fully committed to compliance
with the NPPs.
This policy statement has been prepared to comply
with the NPPs and sets out the policies of Trash
& Treasure relating to personal or sensitive
information provided to or collected by us through
this internet site and also through our general
dealings with members of the public. Unless you
give your express consent otherwise, the following
policies govern how Trash & Treasure handles
your personal information and safeguards your privacy.
Collection and Use of
Personal Information
Pursuant to the Pawnbrokers and Second-Hand
Dealers Act 1996 (NSW) we collect personal information
from sellers at our markets in New South Wales and
Victoria when they enter any of the Company's markets
in those States to sell their wares. We may also
collect information from any person in any State
who contacts us by email, fax, telephone, postal
mail, or in person at our offices in Prestons NSW
or Dandenong Vic, or at any of our markets operating
in New South Wales or Victoria.
We note that we also collect personal information
from you directly on this website under the heading
"Comments" - if you have any comments
or queries regarding any of our services or anything
in this internet site, you may send such comments
or request that we contact you with further information
by providing your contact details.
The purpose of collecting such information from
you is to enable us to:
-
provide you with the service/s you request;
and
-
provide you with information about our markets.
In addition to that information, which you voluntarily
provide to Trash & Treasure while using this
internet site, Trash & Treasure maintains server
logs regarding visits made to this internet site.
Most internet sites maintain such server logs, and
Trash & Treasure analyses such logs in an effort
to constantly improve the value of materials on
the site. The server logs DO NOT contain personally
identifiable information and Trash & Treasure
DOES NOT make any attempt to link the traffic information
on the site with the individuals who actually visit
the site. From time to time Trash & Treasure
may "break down" overall usage statistics
according to a user's domain name, browser type,
and MIME type by reading information from the browser
string (information contained in every user's browser).
The sole purpose of this "break down"
is to improve the performance of the site, monitor
pages of the site that are visited infrequently
and improve such pages, and to determine what type
of browser support we require.
Cookies
A cookie is a small data file that certain web
sites write to your web browser (your computer's hard
drive) so it can later be read back from that browser.
A cookie file can contain information such as a user
ID that the site uses to track the pages you have visited
on that site. If you are interested, more information
on cookies can be found by visiting the Cookie Central
web site at www.cookiecentral.com
Trash & Treasure DOES NOT use cookies.
Providing your Personal
Information to the Authorities
In providing a market stall space to sellers
at any of the Company's markets, it may be necessary
for us if lawfully requested, to provide your personal
information to authorities which may include the
Department of Fair Trading, the relevant State Police
Service, related entities of the Company, Courts,
Solicitors and legal advisers, Federal and relevant
State Governments, relevant Local Councils and Insurance
Companies.
Importantly, your personal information is only
provided to those entities to the extent required
by law. At all times the information remains the
property of the Company and is treated as being
strictly private and confidential. We do not otherwise
sell or provide any of your personal information
to any entity or organisation.
What if you do not wish
to provide us with information?
In order for the Company to provide a venue
and stall space for sellers to sell goods at any
of the Company markets, we are required by law to
obtain information about the sellers. If a seller
does not provide us with all of the information
we require, it may be necessary to refuse that seller
entry into our markets for the purposes of selling.
Newsletter and flyers
Occasionally we provide market sellers with
a newsletter or flyer in order to keep them informed
about important matters relating to the market operation.
Sellers are legally entitled to be kept informed,
and their consent for us to provide a newsletter
or flyer is implied unless they notify us that they
do not wish to receive such information. The newsletter
or flyer may contain information regarding services
and events that could be beneficial.
General Information Security

and security features and strict policy guidelines
to safeguard the privacy of personal information
from unauthorised access or improper use. All information
that you submit to us on this website is transmitted
directly to our internal database server. We take
measures to protect this information while it is
stored, including:
(a) making no external facility (modem) available
to access the internal main frame; and

stored on a password-protected database.
Your Rights
Under the Privacy Act you have the right
to request access to personal information we may
hold about you, subject to any applicable limitation
defined in the NPPs. Where we incur a cost in providing
that information we may pass that cost on to you.
If the information is incorrect, you have the right
to require us to amend the information. We do not
